I4SDG 2025: Technology and Innovation for a Sustainable Future

Innovation and Sustainability on stage in Villa San Giovanni

From 10 to 12 June 2025, the highly successful Third International Conference of IFToMM for Sustainable Development Goals (I4SDG 2025)hosted in the evocative setting of theAltafiumara Resort & Spa a Villa San Giovanni (RC). An event of international scope that managed to combine technology, sustainability And global cooperationrecalling over 200 delegates from 23 countries.

An International Congress for Sustainable Innovation

Promoted by the Prof. Giuseppe Carbone of the University of Calabria, and sponsored by IFToMM, DIMEG, Calabria region and numerous national and international institutions, I4SDG 2025 represented an important meeting point between researchers, businesses, academics And decision-makers committed to the development of technological solutions in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The 2025 edition saw lectio magistralis, parallel technical sessionsworkshops and project presentations on several key topics, including:

  • 🌱 Eco-sustainable robots (PNRR FAIR Project)
  • 🤖 Exoskeletons for rehabilitation (PNRR AGE-IT project)
  • 🍊 Soft manipulators for fruit picking (PNRR Tech4YOU project)
  • 🏛 Monitoring of coastal archaeological sites using drones (PNRR Tech4YOU project)

In addition to these, the programme offered insights into:

  • Artificial intelligence 'green-aware'
  • Human-Machine Interaction
  • Smart and Sustainable Agriculture
  • Robotics for environmentally friendly production
  • Innovative STEM education
  • Adaptive energy storage systems
  • History of machines and mechanisms

📚 The conference proceedings were collected in two volumes published by Springer-Naturetestifying to the scientific rigour and academic value of the initiative.

The TOD System contribution: technology meets sustainability

In collaboration with our partner Fortek srl - Automation and Industrial Supplies, we had the honour of actively participating in the conference, presenting our TODROBOT TR1a state-of-the-art solution from mobile collaborative robotics.

The TR1 is a Autonomous Mobile Manipulator Robot (AMMR) designed to work in dynamic and shared environments, capable of adapting to different contexts: from themanufacturing industry to thepersonal careup to advanced services. Our demonstration showed how TR1 can:

  • Optimising production processes,
  • Reducing waste and consumption,
  • Increase the safety And efficiency,
  • Improving the quality of work for the human being.

A Shared and Participatory Vision

The interest shown by academics, students, professionals And industry representatives confirmed the centrality of the theme: how robotics And artificial intelligence can play a decisive role in building a sustainable, human-centred future.

As emphasised by the Prof. Giuseppe Carbone:

"This event is a unique opportunity to build bridges between research and the productive fabric, while enhancing the sustainable potential of the Calabrian territory on an international scale."

Looking to the Future

We are proud to have contributed to the success of I4SDG 2025an event that demonstrated how crucial the synergy between scientific research, technological innovation And valorisation of the territory. Our commitment continues with renewed energy to develop ever more effective and responsible solutions.

🎥 To relive some of the highlights of the congress, the report aired on LaC News - Channel 11 DTTby journalist Silvio Cacciatorewho was able to tell with great precision the meaning and impact of the technologies presented.
